Billu Ustad: Dealing with child terrorism

Pune based film director Suvahhdan Angre is debuting in Hindi films with Billu Ustaad' India's first film based on the use of children in terror acts. It tells the story of how Billu Ustad, a teenage orphan, helps the Maharashtra Anti Terrorism Squad bust a terror plot to use other orphans in the institution to carry out bombings at public places.
"The film is based on real-life incidents where organisations like Lashkar and ISIS have tried to influence teenagers to carry out terror activities. It also touches upon the role played by Burhan Wani, who became a poster boy for mujahideens in Kashmir valley and whose encounter killing led to fresh unrest in
Jammu and Kashmir," says Suvahhdan Angre.
When Millennium Post enquired what made the lead actor Priyanshu Chatterjee choose 'Billu Ustaad' he said, "I didn't choose it, it chose me. Suvahhdan Angre and Shantanu Singh (producer) came to me with the story idea of the film, since I liked the concept I said yes to the film."
Talking about his role in the film the actor said, "I am portraying the character of a collector who is currently posted in Pune and gets involved in the case and then he gets together with ATS (anti-terrorism squad) to solve it."
"Suvahhdan is very active in the social field and he chose the subject and he gave me whatever specifications were required. He's a very chilled out guy, not at all hyper, yet he makes sure he gets what he wants out of an actor," shares Priyanshu who is signing two new Bollywood films soon.
Billu Ustaad is slated to release on February 16.
