Employment Exchanges to be converted into counselling centres

Employment Exchanges across the nation will soon be converted into National Career Counselling Centres (NCCC) which will facilitate in discovering job opportunities for those <g data-gr-id="22">enrolled</g>, a union minister said here on Tuesday.

“All Employment Exchanges will be transformed into NCCCs which will cater to over four crore job seekers,” Union Minister of State for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya told <g data-gr-id="23">mediapersons</g> on the sidelines of an event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

These centres, besides exploring job opportunities and providing information to the job providers and seekers will also counsel those <g data-gr-id="20">enrolled</g>, Dattatreya said.

He also said that 100 model NCCCs will be set-up, of which two will be in the state of West Bengal, by February-end next year. 

promotiThe government is also ng its National Career Service (NCS) which has a base of over two crore job seekers and nine lakh job providers.

“The central government will provide all the necessary support in this endeavour,” he said. 

The total investment involved in these two projects is Rs 800 crore. “Make in India and Skill India are some of the key priorities of the government and we will generate one crore new jobs by the end of this fiscal year,” he said.

Presently, there are 978 Employment Exchanges and University Employment Guidance Information Bureaus in the country.
