E-rickshaw trainer arrested

He worked as a trainer and provided training to e-rickshaw drivers but later duped many and took 30 to 50 thousands from them in the name of financing e-rickshaws. The cops arrested Rajat Taneja for cheating from Rajouri Garden in West district.

A complaint was received from the owner of the Bahal Motors Institute for training of e-rickshaw drivers at Subhash Nagar where the accused was employed as an instructor. Rajat Taneja, alias Sunny, had taken Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000 from 13 trainees of his institute on the pretext that he will get the remaining amount of e-rickshaw financed for them. The matter came to light when several people approached the owner of the institute demanding their e-rickshaws and hence the role of Rajat Taneja came to light.

“One of the complainants, who were themselves looking for the accused, informed our team about a newspaper article wherein a photograph was published in which the cheat was seen driving an e-rickshaw. We identified the accused and arrested him,” said Vijay Kumar, DCP West district.

On investigation it was found that Rajat Taneja is still driving the e-rickshaw at the place where he was identified from where the photograph was clicked.

The cops are still making efforts to recover the cheated amount.
