DND’s profit to increase by Rs 4 cr due to Noida-Okhla bridge closing

The jam packed south-east Delhi, thanks to Noida-bound vehicles, has become a nightmare for commuters but a boon for DND flyway, which has registered an increase of around Rs 4 lakh per day in its toll tax collection.

According to the officers, after the end of the new year celebrations the company expects an increase of around Rs 6 lakh per day in its revenue. ‘We have expected an increase of over 30,000 vehicles per day on DND flyway but it has increased only around 20,000 as Delhiites have gone outside for new year celebrations,’ said Anwar Abbasi, spokesperson of DND. If the estimates of the company come true, the company would earn over Rs 4 crore in the two months the Noida-Okhla bridge on Yamuna river for repair. Interestingly, the cost of repairing Noida-Okhla bridge is Rs 4.0 crore.

This carriageway has been closed from 23 December to 23 January for repair which could be extended if needed. In the second phase of the repair the jam will shift to Noida when Noida to Delhi carriageway of the bridge will be closed for one month. In both the cases DND is the only option for commuters.
