DMRC to lease out commercial, parking areas of Dwarka Sec 8 station

The Delhi Metro is all set to lease out the parking and retail areas in the Dwarka Sector 8 Metro station. With these development initiatives DMRC will generate sustainable revenue. The Delhi Metro will grant the lease for 15 years. The move will give commuters more options to shop and park their vehicles.

The Metro station is situated at the Line-3 (Rajiv Chowk–Dwarka Sector 21corridor) of Phase-II of the Delhi MRTS (Delhi Mass Rapid Transit System) Project. The Dwarka Sector 8 is in a strategic location and is situated near the IGI Airport and is accessible by road from all areas of Delhi and Gurgaon thus the DMRC has planned property development at the station along with operating facilities for commuters.

The station will have retail and commercial space on the ground floor which is proposed to be leased out for specified purposes. Being located in the commercial sector of Dwarka, the project site has an excellent opportunity to become an important commercial hub within this locality. With separate access being available for the commercial areas and parking lots and for being prominent and spacious, these floor areas will present unique opportunities for retailers.

The lessee will have the right to display signage(s) of suitable sizes for displaying its generic name of each space. The lessee shall also need to obtain a written approval from the DMRC before putting up any form of signage and DMRC reserves the right to refuse or to suggest an alternation to the same. The size, shape, location, etc of the signage are subject to architectural controls to be issued by the DMRC. Signage should be used only for the business being run by the lessee in the leased premises.

DMRC said the space available will be suitable for various business propositions. “This station serves to a very large tourist section of Delhi. Apart from that, the space being licensed out is eminently suited for showroom etc or even for offices,” the official said.
