DMRC fined by SDMC for flouting NGT norms

South MCD on Wednesday imposed Rs 2.5 lakh fine on Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) sites for not following the guidelines issued by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

“These sites were fined Rs 50,000 each for not following the rules,” said a spokesperson of the South MCD. The sites which were inspected and found violating the rules were Lajpat Nagar (two sites), South Extension, Okhla Village and Abu Fazal Enclave. The inspection was carried out by Building Department of the Central Zone of South MCD.

The spokesperson also added that the survey shall be continued in regular intervals in the areas under the jurisdiction of the Central Zone in respect of implementation of NGT orders. Apart from this, during this month, demolition action has taken place on 50 properties and 4 properties were sealed which includes action against unauthorised construction, misuse/illegal mobile towers during this period.

South MCD also removed 209 illegal hoardings and 10 properties were sealed on account of erecting illegal iron structure for hoardings.
