DJB scam: AAP govt initiates probe against Dikshit

The Delhi Jal Board (DJB) on Wednesday ordered a probe into alleged irregularities in the tenders for buying stainless steel water tankers during the tenure of the previous Congress government headed by Sheila Dikshit.

Besides Dikshit, who was also the chairperson of the DJB, a former DJB member, Mateen Ahmed, have been named in the investigation.

"An investigation has been initiated. The matter is being probed and it is too early to say anything," AAP MLA from Kirari, Rituraj, who is also a member of DJB confirmed, said. The probe pertains to a tender which was released three years ago to acquire stainless steel water tankers to bolster the DJB's fleet. In 2012, around 400 water tankers were acquired by the DJB and manufactured by a private contractor after receiving complaints of irregular service. The purchase of these water tankers was aimed at ensuring seamless service across Delhi.
