Dish it out

If you have had enough of the regular Dominos and the Pizza Hut pizzas - the ones  which you leave out the crust and are more than often unhappy with the toppings? The Capital has had the luck to have a handful of places that serve you a perfect pizza that you will find very little to complain about. The thin crust, some really yummy cheese and some toppings you could die for.

Fat Lulu's in Gurgaon has won its own set of pizza loyalists and also a few from other parts of NCR, who often brave the traffic to get a bite of the ' thin crust NY style gourmet pizza'. As they put it - this pizzeria is inspired by the American culture of famous gangs and mobsters that originated from Italy and brought unique thin-crust style pizza with them to the streets of New York. With interiors that remind of a casual, cosy eatery in some corner of the Big Apple, Fat Lulu's at DLF Shopping Mall, Arjun Marg, DLF Phase I, surprised us.

While they give you the option to create your own pizza with a choice of vegetarian and non vegetarian toppings and also a pick from six other kinds of cheese besides the mozarella - their own selections are quite a hit. The Soho (pepperoni, parma ham, ground lamb and Italian sausage) and Bronx (sour cream, mozarella, chicken, capsicum, onion and bacon) get our thumbs up in the meat lovers' section. If you are the type to be adventurous - they have a very interesting shrimp pizza they call Park Avenue. For the vegetarians Fat Lulu's vegetarian pizza is what we would suggest - it has Italian ratatouille - zucchini, bell peppers, mushroom and olives. And the classic Margherita is spot on - with the perfect thin crust and the cheese.

Pizzas top their orders but they also have an impressive list of pastas and salads on offer as well.  With a 16 inch non-veg pizza available for Rs 800 and a non-veg pasta for Rs 300 (both without taxes)  the prices are decently easy on the pocket as well. The restaurant is hoping for a liquor license soon and one can enjoy their pizza with some chilled beer. Definitely something we would come back for!
