Directors don't see me in different roles: Irrfan

"When you do a film, a role, you create an image and industry wants to use that image and give you similar parts.

If you keep on doing it, you keep on pumping that image," Irrfan told reporters here.

The 49-year-old "Piku" star says it is important for an artiste to break free in order to not feel "caged".

"As I create an image, I feel caged when people start identifying me with that image. You do 'Haasil' and you get similar kind of roles. Then how do you break it? You do a love story, then some other movies."

When asked if this is because directors don't offer him different roles, Irrfan said, "Oh yes. Because it's easier for them. They don't see me in different roles because it needs imagination. If they get ready stuff, they want to use it as it is."

The actor's recent project "Madaari" released last Friday and Irrfan says he is content with the collections of the movie.

"I am satisfied with the way it is going, it has picked up. Whoever is watching is taking their families along," he said.

Irrfan was speaking at the new cover launch of Stardust magazine.
