Youth turned to crime to fund his lavish lifestyle, arrested

New Delhi: A 25-year-old youth was arrested at Inderlok Metro Station on October 12. Police said that the accused, to live a lavish lifestyle, started committing the crime.

Police identified the accused as Pradeep Kumar. He left his studies after BA Ist Year from SOL, Delhi University.

"He is very fond of living a high-standard life and always keeps himself looking presentable. He wears a costly wristwatch, goggles, gold ornaments and keeps a costly mobile phone with him to show himself as a high profile person," police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Metro) Vikram K Porwal said that the accused used to operate at Metro Stations, bus stands, railway stations to commit theft for about last seven years.

"He kept watch over the passengers having a good profile who may carry a good amount of money with them," said Porwal.

Adding further, DCP added that the accused steals the wallet or mobile phone within just a few seconds from the pocket of passengers and gets down from the metro train promptly.

"He usually checked the wallet and if he found any ATM password kept in the wallet, he withdrew maximum money from the account of the victim," said DCP Metro.

In the special drives over the past two months, the Delhi Police Metro Unit has arrested around 75 such criminals involved in carrying out the theft of mobiles, purse, bags in Metro trains and metro stations.

Special teams have been constituted in plain clothes and in uniform to nab such criminals.Mpost
