Woman on way to pick up son from school run over by school bus

Ghaziabad: A 37-years-old woman died after a school bus ran over her in Indirapuram area of Ghaziabad on Tuesday afternoon.
The accident took place in Niti Khand locality at around 2 pm. The police have arrested the bus driver. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicle Act.
The victim has been identified as Neetu Dalal, a resident of Nyay Khand-1. She was travelling alone on a scooter and was going to pick her son from the school at the time of incident, police said.
While travelling towards the school, the woman had a collision with a motorcycle and fell down on road.
"While the woman was on road, a speeding school bus coming from behind ran over her," said a police officer investigating the case. Neetu died on the spot and the passersby handed over the bus driver to police. At the time of accident there were four students in the bus. Police said the children on the bus are uninjured.
The bus belonged to Saint Joseph public school situated in Nandgram area of Ghaziabad. The bus driver reportedly told police that the motorcycle, which hit the lady's scooter, was driven by a minor. However the minor motorcycle driver fled away from the scene along with the vehicle and police had not been able to trace him yet.
On Monday, a 14-year-old boy, who had never driven a car, took out a Honda City of his aunt and rammed several vehicles in Indirapuram. Though no one was injured but the boy ran the car into half-a-dozen vehicles, which sustained damages.
