Woman gang-raped in Noida park, four held

Noida: In a gruesome incident, a 20-year-old woman was allegedly gang raped by five men at a park in sector 63 area of Noida on Wednesday night. Cops said that the victim had come to meet one of her friends to the park to discuss a job but her friend tried to molest her in the park.

According to police, the arrested accused have been identified as victim's friend Ravi, native of Chhijarsi colony in sector 63, and three other men from the group of five who raped her and they were identified as Brijkishor, Preetam and Umesh, all from slums area located in J block of sector 63 in Noida.

The alleged gang rape incident occurred around 9:30 pm on Wednesday at a park situated near Behlolpur police Chowki under phase-III police station area of Noida. "The victim, a native of Chhijarsi area, is an illiterate and she had come to meet her a friend who had promised her job. Her friend Ravi tried to molest her at the park when they were spotted by a few youths," said cops.

"Two youths came for her rescue, thrashed her friend who was molesting her and made him flee. Later, the duo of youths allegedly forced them on her and took turns to rape her before they called three of their other friends who also thrashed the victim and gang raped her," police added.

All the accused fled away from the spot leaving the victim behind who somehow reached a nearest police station in an disheveled condition and narrated the ordeal. Police rushed her to district hospital and her condition is under control now.

Vaibhav Krishna, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gautam Buddh Nagar said that four among the six accused persons have been arrested by police. "We have arrested four out of the six accused involved in the incident, including victim's friend Ravi. A reward of Rs 25, 000 each is declared on both the accused who are absconding while teams have been formed and raids are being conducted to arrest them as well" said Krishna.

The officer said that the accused persons confessed to have committed the crime and based on their interpretations police also recovered victim's clothes and other belongings.

"We have also written to government to provide financial assistance to the victim for her rehabilitation," the SSP added.
