Wellness Week for cleaner, greener & safer New Delhi

New Delhi: In a bid to sensitize the residents of New Delhi area and the people who visit New Delhi area & different stakeholders, the NDMC in collaboration with Sleepwell Foundation, is observing a Wellness Week from June 17-23.

Outlining the details of week-long celebrations, NDMC Secretary Rashmi Singh said that the timing of the Wellness Week has been coincided with the International Yoga Day on June 21. She added that the Wellness Week is aimed to make New Delhi area cleaner, greener & safer and the communities happier & healthier in terms of physical, emotional, creative, intellectual and spiritual wellbeing.

The week will commence with "Launch of Street Art Project" and "Let's be Asli Hero Campaign" on June 17 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Shahjahan Road and Lawns of India Gate. A renowned artist Akhlaq Ahmad, (Painter Shabbu) would start painting & beautifying both sides of Shahjahan Road with the help of volunteers & the Swachhta interns of NDMC. It will be a Symbolic Opening of Wellness Week – to inculcate pride and ownership among people through nurturing their creative energies. To further this, the action scene will be shifted to next door India Gate Lawns where a Military Band will play beautiful patriotic songs to attract attention of public, she added. And then this is a surprise event.

Singh further said that to resonate with our young and young-at-heart audience, the campaign drive "LET'S BE ASLI HERO" will be launched. An "Asli Hero" is a person who is responsible in his/her everyday behavior especially at public places.
