Wanted for double murder, gangster arrested after high voltage chase

New Delhi: The Special Cell of Delhi Police on Monday claimed that they have arrested a gangster identified as Akshay Dagar after a long and high voltage chase of nearly 150 kms on NH-1. He was wanted in a broad daylight double murder case of Dwarka. The accused was carrying a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his arrest.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Sanjeev Yadav stated that on October 17, the movement of accused was tracked at Kalka, Himachal Pradesh. At 3 pm on October 18, when a silver colour Baleno car was spotted coming from the side of his hideout. On suspicion, the car was signalled to stop but sensing the police presence driver sped away.

The police team started chasing the car. Simultaneously, another team, kept in standby mode at Delhi, was informed and instructed to reinforce the chasing team. The man drove his car at high speed and dangerously, while the police team kept on chasing the vehicle cautiously. As soon as the car turned towards Delhi, the reinforcement team was alerted accordingly. Eventually, after a high voltage chase of approx 150 kms, the suspect car was intercepted by the police teams near Bilaspur Road on NH-1.

Police further claimed that on May 2, an incident of double murder was reported at village Bamnoli, wherein three persons shot indiscriminately on the occupants of the Swift car. Both the occupants, who were later identified as Sandeep and Pawan. "During investigation, it was revealed that one Rajiv and Akshay Dagar were the main assailants in the said case along with their associate. The double murder was the outcome of a dispute between the gangsters over a property at Vill- Pochanpur. The dispute grew up to such extent that friends became foes," police said. Accused Rajiv has already been arrested by Special Cell team in June this year.

The accused was born in a family of Ex-Police Officer. He is highly qualified and B.Tech from PDM college Bahadurgarh. He completed his B.Tech in 2015 and soon after leaving the college he fell in bad company.
