The DCW led by its chief Swati Maliwal has been taking action against sex rackets operating at spa centres across the capital. Upon her action, several spa and massage parlours have been shut down across Delhi.

During the course of the action, Maliwal and her family members received several threatening calls and audio recordings from some spa owners.

The two women have been booked under relevant IPC sections. Delhi Police also offered security to Maliwal but she refused saying she does not want any special treatment. During the investigation, two women were identified with the help of technical surveillance and later arrested by Cyber Crime Unit of Delhi Police, they said, adding that further investigation was underway.

After a series of letters, complaints and raids done by Delhi Commission for Woman (DCW) on Spa and massage parlour, Delhi Lieutenant Governor (L-G) Anil Baijal directed Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Dev to constitute a task force to look into the functioning of spa centres in the national Capital to ensure that no "illegal and undesirable activity" takes place in these centres under the garb of massage parlours.
