Two shootouts reported from Noida's Sector-39, no casualty

Noida: In two unrelated incidents of firing reported withing ten minutes of each other from Sector-39 area of Noida, an officer of Jal Nigam and a teacher were shot at by bike-borne miscreants on Friday afternoon.

In the first incident, a 23-year-old man suffered a bullet injury in his leg after criminals opened fire at him while he had stopped his car to take a phone call near the Golf Course Metro station.

Police officials said that the culprits are yet to be identified.

They added that prima facie the motive behind the shoot out appears to be robbery.

Cops said that the victim, identified Sujeet Singh, runs a coaching centre from his residence at Great Value Sharnam, a high rise residential society in Sector-107.

Sujeet was on his way home when the incident took place. During the shootout, his younger brother's son was also present in the car.

Amit Singh, station house officer, Sector-39 police station, said that Sujeet had stopped his near Golf Course Metro Station to take a phone call, when suddenly two miscreants came on bike and asked him to open the roll down the window.

"When Sujeet refused to open the glass, the miscreants opened fire at him with a pistol. The bullet broke the glass and also hit Sujeet's leg," the SHO said.

Sujeet somehow managed to escape the spot and drive all the way to the nearby Sector-37 police post and reported the incident to cops.

Police immediately took him to the district hospital in Sector-30 for medical attention, the SHO added.

A few minutes after this shootout, another incident was reported wherein unidentified bike-borne assailants opened fire at an official of the Jal Nigam in Sector-39 area.

However, the official did not receive any serious injuries and the culprits fled towards Mahamaya flyover, brandishing the gun.
