Truck runs over man sleeping on roadside verge

NEW DELHI: In a tragic accident at New Friends colony, a man sleeping on the verge on the road was run over by a speeding truck in the intervening night of September 13-14. The man died instantly. The truck laden with iron bars first hit a car from behind at the Okhla red light and then hit the central verge killing the sleeping man on spot.

The car occupants were unhurt with the impact. The truck then also hit a TSR and its driver too escaped unhurt. The driver of the TSR later filed a police complaint and an FIR has been registered at New Friends Colony. The driver fled the scene immediately. "The dead body was shifted to AIIIMS for the post-mortem and efforts are being made to identify him. Also, teams have been made to arrest the absconding driver of the truck," said DCP Southeast
