Tremors in Delhi-NCR, epicentre Nepal

New Delhi: Tremors were felt in some parts of the Delhi-NCR on Tuesday evening after a mild earthquake struck close to the Indo-Nepal border, about 300 km from Lucknow. Residents quickly took to social media with reports of the tremors being felt in several parts of Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Moradabad.

While cities in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand also felt the tremors, an official from the National Centre for Seismology said that the earthquake was recorded as 5.9 on Richter scale, which is on the lower side of moderate quakes.

The epicentre of the earthquake was 25 km east northeast of Dipayal in Nepal and the National Centre for Seismology recorded it at 7:01 pm. Private weather watcher Skymet said that no immediate incidents of injuries or damage were reported in the Delhi-NCR area.
