Tis Hazari clash: Lawyers suspend strike

New Delhi: The five-day-long lawyers' strike in Delhi has finally been temporarily suspended, following a meeting of the Bar Council of India, Bar Council of Delhi and the Coordination Committee of District Court Bar Associations, where the decision was taken.

According to the minutes of the meeting, a decision was taken to form a committee with members of the Bar Council of India, Bar Council of Delhi and all District Court Bar Associations for the time being. In the meantime, it was decided to suspend the strike.

In fact, the BCI had released a statement on Wednesday, a day after Delhi Police officials went on a mass strike, following the handling of the Tis Hazari clash. The BCI had called the police strike illegal and demanded the arrest of senior police officials who fired shots and ordered the firing during the Tis Hazari clash within 10 days.
