Speeding car mows down rickshaw puller in N Delhi

NEW DELHI: A 55 year old rickshaw puller was killed and a lady grievously injured after a speeding car hit them in Sabzi Mandi area of North Delhi early morning on Thursday. The deceased rickshaw puller was a resident of Amroha in UP. A cow was also hit by the speeding car after which it overturned near the pavement. The car owner has been identified but driver is yet to be identified and arrested.

The incident was reported around 7 am near Baraf Khana area of Sabzi Mandi in North Delhi. A PCR call was made by a bystander about the incident. A police PCR team rushed to the spot and admitted injured persons in Hindu Raw hospital. The car driver however escaped unhurt and fled with leaving the car on the spot before the police came, said a senior police official.

The injured woman pedestrian identified as Rani (37) received grievous injuries including fractures in her limbs. She is out of danger, said a senior police official. The victim of the family alleged that the car driver was driving at a high-speed. He lost control over his car and hit whoever came on the way.

Police said that the owner of the car has been identified Shukveer Singh of Wazirpur. "The police teams have sent notice to the car owner and asked the details in written that who was driving the car. The car driver will be identified soon and he will be arrested. The investigation is underway," ACP said. The vehicle was badly damaged after the accident and was seized for further investigation. A case under section 279 and 304 (A) of IPC has been registered at Sabzi Mandi police station.
