Soon, warnings on liquor bottles against drunken driving

With an aim to save lives lost at risk to drunken driving, liquor bottles in the country would soon be sold with pictorial warnings against drinking and driving to warn consumers about the dangerous consequences of driving under influence.
In a PIL filed in Delhi High Court by activist Prince Singhal, seeking pictorial warnings along with a clear and direct warning against drinking and driving on every alcohol bottle of Indian or Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) along with a combined with a pictorial warning, the court gave necessary directions to Food Safety Standards authority of India (FSSAI), under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, to do the needful.
Singhal added that countries such as USA and South Africa have reduced drunk driving accidents and fatalities through such warnings.
