SNA approves renaming of various structures

NEW DELHI: The State Naming Authority (SNA), at its 58th meeting on Thursday, took the decision of renaming some flyovers, roads, school building and Metro stations across the national Capital.

The meeting headed by the chairman of SNA and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Delhi Urban Development minister Satyendar Jain, Principal Secretary (Urban Development), managing director of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, member MLAs and sofficers of other departments also participated in the meeting.

After due consideration, major decisions were taken to change the names of elevated roads, schools, bridges and intersections.

The bridge at National Highway-24 at Ghazipur Chowk has been renamed 'Gujjar Samrat Mihir Bhoj Setu'. Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in J-Block, Sangam Vihar, has been renamed 'Veer Abdul Hameed Sarvodaya Vidhayalaya'. Barapullah Bridge Elevated road will now be known as 'Banda Bahadur flyover'.

The SNA also ratified earlier changes and renamed the Badli Mor Metro Station as Haiderpur Badli Mor.

According to officials of the Urban Development department, after demands from various RWAs, NGOs, public representatives, government departments and other agencies, the SNA – which is competent to consider such renaming – unanimously approved the changes on Thursday.
