Seven arrested for thrashing police

Ghaziabad: Seven persons including two women have been arrested by Ghaziabad police for thrashing police constables and vandalising a police post in Loni area of Ghaziabad on Wednesday. Police officials said that the arrested persons had come to secure the release of an accused from the police lock-up, who was arrested in a case of molestation.

According to police, the arrest was made by Tronica City Police under Ghaziabad police area. The accused was taken under custody for molestation but members of his family reached the police station on Tuesday night and forced police to evade the arrest.

"We had arrested an accused in a case of molestation on Tuesday. Some of his family members had come to secure his release from the police custody and they vandalised the police post. Also, they misbehaved with senior police officials and thrashed a constable at the police station," said Durgesh Kumar, Circle Officer, Loni.

Police officials said that the family members were annoyed with the arrest and they began thrashing with constable and they got the accused flee from the lock-up. "The accused is yet absconding. The police have arrested seven persons to get him run away from police custody. " added Kumar.
