"In this scorching heat, we are unable to figure out where drinking water is available. There are no sheds installed and not even official staff are cooperating with us," said an irked parent.

At Ramjas College, people were seen arguing and complaining to officials about the delay in the admission of their children. They demanded more forensic staff to carry out the verification of documents.

They also raised concern about "carelessness of college authorities in providing seating."

"We have been waiting here since 8 am to complete the admission procedure. We had been told to come on in the afternoon to pay the admission challan, but it is already past noon and we haven't been able to do it," rued Kanika Juneja, an applicant with 97.5 per cent, seeking admission at Miranda House, just like several hundreds waiting in long queues.

Annapurna, who was among the many applicants who had to stand in the long queue since morning, said, "We have come from Bijnor just to verify my documents and pay the college fees as portal is not working at our place. But here, the entire process has taken us two days. It is so tiring and unfair."

Students in long queues waiting for admission soon joined her in the complaining.

The college staff, however, defended their actions vigorously. "We need to be sure of the correct admission certificates. So we check and recheck the Class X and Class XII marks on the websites. All this is bound to take time," said an official at Ramjas College, who was one of the staff members involved in handling the admission process.

Satyanand Kumar, a student at DU's Faculty of Law, came for his sister's admission. "We came here at 10 am. My sister's file has been transferred for verification process to these experts. But even after five hour of waiting, her name has still not been announced by the authorities," he said.

"We have come all the way from Bangalore to take admission at the very first day of admission. But could not make it on first day, due to the servers error and on second day of admission. My entire day has ruined just in getting admission and for the verification," said the father of Abhinav. He had also came to the University to secure the admission for his elder daughter last year.
