SDMC plans to add 100 science clubs in primary schools

New Delhi: The South Delhi Municipal Council is planning to open 100 additional science clubs in primary schools, after the national-level recognition such clubs have received in the recent months, officials here said. The SDMC also felicitated 59 science clubs, which have been awarded upgraded status in the last year. The science clubs are being upgraded by the VIPNET under Ministry of Science and Technology on the basis of an evaluation conducted by a team of scientists at the national level.

Education Committee Chairperson Nandini Sharma said that in an era of artificial intelligence students need to be competent enough to work with science and technology that will help with ease of living. "Today, our students are being imparted education as per digital education initiatives," she said.

The SDMC will also organise science fairs at very large scale and award best students along with best science coordinators, she said.
