SDMC lodges 16 FIRs against polluters

New Delhi: In view of severe condition of air pollution and instructions of the NGT to take all possible measures to protect the aged, children and other citizens, SDMC has informed to continue its action against the violators today lodged 16 FIRs/Complaints with Delhi Police in all four zones. The

SDMC has been continuously issuing challans for ongoing construction activities despite its suspension; carrying uncovered C&D waste and burning of leaves/garbage which have being a cause of severe air pollution. All the four zones have issued 360 challans against the defaulters under NGT Act imposing fine of Rs 15.56 lakh and also carried out 1788 inspections to control dust pollution. 83 water tankers and 24 mechanical road sweepers covering 688 kms has been deployed for water sprinkling and removal of dust and litter from the roads. Other than this 388.90 MT C&D waste lifted from roads across 4 zones.
