SDMC imposes Rs 50K fine on organiser of bhandara

New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Crporation (SDMC) on Sunday issued a challan of Rs 50,000 to the organiser of a Bhandara under Section 15 of NGT for using thermo plastic material and under section 317 and 351 for littering the place in Chirag Delhi.

The field staff found that organisers have not taken proper measures to collect and dispose of used plates but littered every where near the place of Bhandara. In this regard as already stated that under swachhta hi sewa campaign instruction have been issued to the field staff to be vigilant and take appropriate action against the violators as per law.

An SDMC official said that during the Swachhta Hi Sewa campaign, Corporation is regularly making all out efforts to educate, aware and sensitise the general public about the harmful affects of single use plastic. Which is not only detrimental to environment but also harmful to the health of users. All the field staff have been instructed to keep strict vigil/eye of such type functions / Bhandara to avoid any eyesore sights.
