SDMC concerned over delay in notifying zonal committees

South Delhi Municipal Corporation on Tuesday expressed deep concern over delay in notifying zonal committees by the City Government despite concurrence of L-G and clearance by Delhi Government's UD Department.
"This is badly affecting the functioning of the SDMC, constitution of Standing Committee, undertaking developmental works, formulation of policies, getting proposals from zonal committees and preparation of major infrastructure schemes for consideration in the SDMC House," Leader of the House, Shikha Ray said.
She said that the file had been lying in the government's Law Department for the past so many days; it looks that Delhi Government has no urgency in clearing the issue and notifying the same in the public interest. The City Government was so quick in nomination of the aldermen and MLAs in the MCDs but they have no concern for the issues related to the functioning of the MCDs, she said..
She also stated that a letter to L-G was sent by her on July 21 and the SDMC will also seek his intervention in the matter.
"In fact, the LG had orally communicated about the clearance of the file from his office. It is surprising that Delhi Government has no interest in settling the issue; the delay is causing hindrance in initiating the new initiatives," Ray said.
