Rewarded criminal nabbed by after gun battle

Noida: Two dreaded criminals, one among them carried bounty of Rs 25,000 on his head, was nabbed by Noida police in a late-night encounter in sector 20 area of Noida on Saturday. Police officials said that both the criminals sustained bullet injuries in their leg during the gun battle.

According to police, the arrested accused have been identified as Ajeet Singh, a native of Kotla Mubarakpur area in Delhi and his accomplice Malikeet Singh alias L S Loliya Don, a resident of Geeta Colony area in Delhi.

Police officials said that Ajeet carried a reward of Rs 25, 000 on his head and was wanted in several cases of murder and robbery.

"We received a tip-off that two persons, with an intention to commit a robbery, are coming here. Police teams were deployed in the area to undertake vehicle checking. At around 12:40 am, police spotted two suspects travelling on a sports motorcycle and signalled them to stop. Instead of stopping, they tried to run away.

"Police chased them and at a sharp cut near Film City in sector 16, their bike got slipped and the criminals opened fire on cops, in return to which police had to make retaliatory firing in which both the criminals got bullet injuries in their legs and they have been admitted to hospital for treatment," said Manoj Pant, Station house officer of sector 20 police station.

The officer further said that the arrested persons were wanted in many cases of loot and robbery in Delhi-NCR region.

"They have nearly two dozen cases of robbery and loot registered against them in Delhi as well as Gautam Budh Nagar," added Pant.
