Revised MV Act: More than 4k to 5k challans everyday

New Delhi: After the amended motor vehicles act came into effect on Sunday, the Delhi Police has issued an average of 4000 to 5000 challans per day against various traffic violations.
According to police data (from September 1- September 5) as many as 254 challans were issued for drunken driving. Around 1,229 challans were issued for without seat belt.
"The traffic police issued 1,527 challans for dangerous driving and 2,698 challans for the red signal violation," Delhi Police data revealed.
The Delhi Traffic Police recently directed all DCPs to brief their staff to follow the traffic rules. A letter was written to all senior officers in Delhi Police by Joint Commissioner of Police (traffic) Meenu Choudhary.
