Research executive commits suicide in metro station

New Delhi: In separate incidents, two suicides were reported from different metro stations of Delhi on Tuesday. The deceased persons include research executive of the company and jobless youth.

According to police, the incident in which the research executive died was reported on Tuesday afternoon around 2.19 pm from platform number-2 of New Ashok Nagar Metro Station.

The man, identified as Amit Soni, a resident of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, laid down on the platform, with his head and shoulders sticking out towards the track when he saw the train approaching.

"The train smashed his head while he laid on the platform. He died due to severe head injuries," police said.

An official stated that the deceased had completed his hotel management course. Two years ago he had joined an OYO hotel company in the city as Research Executive. He got married two months back. Amit was residing alone at a rented accommodation in Uttam Nagar area as his family along with his wife lives in Gwalior. The deceased's father is a goldsmith in Gwalior MP.

"His family members are coming from Gwalior after which there is a possibility that the reason behind the extreme step can be ascertained," said another official.

Another incident was reported from Uttam Nagar East Metro Station. The 40-year-old man, identified as Rajiv, jumped on road from the railings of the unpaid area at Uttam Nagar East Metro Station. Immediately a traffic policeman took him to the hospital where he was declared dead. DCP (Metro) Vikram Porwal said that one suicide note was recovered from the spot.

"Due to financial debt, he took such a harsh step to end his life as mentioned in the suicide note. His family is being informed. Inquest Proceedings are on," said DCP Metro adding that deceased had no source of income.

In another case one Sandeep was injured after he jumped infront of Metro train in Dwarka Mor Metro Station. Police said that they were alerted around 9:05 pm on Tuesday. Police said that the victim was resident of Najafgarh . "He is presently admitted at hospital. His parents have been informed, and he is undergoing treatment," police said.
