Repeat sexual offender arrested for rape-murder of 3-year-old

Gurugram: Twenty-year- old Sunil, accused of rape and brutal murder of a three -year-old girl in Gurugram on November 12, was arrested in Jhansi seven days after the crime. His interrogation by the law enforcement officials has now revealed disturbing facts. The three-year-old who was raped by Sunil was the eighth victim sexually assaulted by him. Prior to this, he had sexually assaulted minors in Gurugram, Delhi, Jhansi and Gwalior. In Gurgram itself he is involved in three rape incidents in and around the same area where he had carried out his recent crime. He has been now sent to eight days of police custody.

"Shocking information has come forward that Sunil was a repeat sexual offender. We are now trying to gather information about the crimes carried out by him in Gurugram," said a senior police official from Gurugram. A three-year-old girl who had gone missing from her home was found dead in Sector-66 on November 11. In a case that again put humanity to shame, the body of the girl was found in a naked state.

The post-mortem later revealed that not only was the minor raped but tortured and then brutally murdered.

The forensic report mentions that after rape her tormentor bludgeoned her to death. Moreover, a stick of a size of 10 centimeters was inserted in her private parts. In the investigations, the Gururgam police zeroed on the neighbour who had been stalking the girl for some time. As of now, no arrests have been made in the case.

A case has been registered under Section 376 (punishment for rape), 302 (punishment for murder) and section 4 (punishment for penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against unidentified people.
