Peripheral Metro route to connect Gr Noida, Noida

Noida: In a bid to reduce the hassle for commuters between Greater Noida, Noida and Greater Noida West, the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is working to connect these three locations via peripheral metro route.

NMRC will hold a board meeting in December to push construction of the prominent Metro route from Noida Sector-71 to Knowlege Park-5 and another one Noida Depot to Knowlege Park-5.

The Greater Noida Authority had decided to rope in the NMRC for construction of this link.

Formed on November 14, 2014, the NMRC has constructed the Rs 5,503 crore Noida–Greater Noida Metro link, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.

The 30 km Metro link will connect Greater Noida with Noida via Pari Chowk after passing through residential and industrial areas located along the 25 km Noida Expressway.

"In view of an increase in population in housing complexes in Greater Noida West, we have decided to start work on a Metro link project that will provide connectivity between Noida's Sector-71 and Greater Noida West's Sector-1," said a senior official of Greater Noida Authority.

We will first approve a proposal about this Metro link in our board meeting scheduled on December 3, paving the way for further progress on this project," he added.

"Noida–Greater Noida West Metro link will provide connectivity via Kisan Chowk. Once we approve a proposal in our board meeting, we will work on the detailed project report (DPR) of this link.

"The details related with the project will be measured in the DPR to be made after approval of the proposal," the official further said.

The distance between Noida's Sector-71 to Greater Noida West's Sector-1 till Kisan Chowk will be around seven kilometres.

Greater Noida West has around 3.5 lakh housing units, which include both ready-to-move-in flats and under construction ones.

Of these units, around 50,000 are occupied, and residents living in more than a dozen housing complexes face commuting issues as public transport facilities are in a poor state.

The 15 km link will provide Metro connectivity to Noida and Greater Noida West, apart from areas of located on the periphery of Greater Noida.

The elevated track of this link, which will have nine stations, will be built above the central verge (divider) of Vikas Marg – which connects Noida with Greater Noida West – and another road that runs through Greater Noida's residential, educational and industrial areas.

The project's DPR said that the link will put Noida's sectors 71, 72, 122, 119, 118, 67, 63 and 66 and other areas on the Metro track.

Greater Noida's sectors 1, 10, Knowledge Park 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, among others, will be put on the metro route through this project.
