Over 65 properties sealed in SDMC, North MCD areas
New Delhi: South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) on Wednesday sealed five properties in Mayapuri and Tilak Nagar for unauthoriesd construction and misuse of property, while North Delhi Municipal Corporation (North MCD) sealed 60 properties in areas of Azad Market, Old Rajender nagar and Malka Ganj.
Among the establishments sealed by SDMC are Pind Baluchi Restaurant and Revive Hospital in Tilak Nagar and a Honda car showroom in Mayapuri Phas-II.
A senior SDMC official said that Revive Hospital was sealed for running commercial activity in the stilt area of the hospital. "Further, an entire building was also sealed at JJ Colony Chaukhandi for illegal construction," he added.
The official stated that the action was taken as per directions of the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee.
"The order was issued by the Committee appointed by the SC and we have acted accordingly. There is no need for sending any prior notice just before the action in that case," the SDMC official clarified.
The Monitoring Committee, which was revived on December 15 last year, comprises three members, namely former adviser to the Election Commission KJ Rao, chairman of Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority Bhure Lal and Major General (retd) Som Jhingan.
