Over 41,000 DTC employees, pensioners to get their dues

NEW DELHI: Over 41,000 Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) employees and pensioners have been given a major relief, when the Delhi government on Thursday announcing release of timely salary and others allowances, in the 2018-19 Budget.
Deputy CM Manish Sisodia said, "Our government has proposed additional budget to clear all past arrears of DTC employees due to implementation of Seventh Pay Commission, as well as for making payment of arrears on account of de-freezing of DA etc."
The Lieutenant Governor had, in July last year, approved the proposal to implement the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations in DTC.
"The government proposed enhanced Budget of Rs 2,107 crore in the Revised Estimates, against Rs 1642 crore in Budget Estimates 2017-18, to meet the additional requirement of funds for implementation of above decision," he added.
To induct 1,000 new standard sized buses in the DTC fleet, the government proposed an outlay of Rs 150 crore for 2018-19 – in addition to the already released funds of Rs 199.55 crore in 2012-13. It also proposed an outlay of Rs 450 crore, to meet the viability gap funding of cluster buses.
A pilot project for implementation of common mobility cards in 200 DTC and 50 cluster buses was launched in January, which will be implemented in all buses from April. In this project, Delhi Metro smart cards can be used to pay bus fare.
