One held for firing in Nihal Vihar

New Delhi: Three persons were injured in an incessant firing by a rival group in Nihal Vihar area. Police have arrested one of the accused in the case from Dichaun Enclave area in Dwarka.

Police identified the accused as Rahul alias Mota (23), a resident of Nangloi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police(Dwarka) Anto Alphonse said that on the intervening night of September 7 and 8, one Deepak Mathur along with his associates Pradeep and Rahul had gone to a food stall at Ranhola Extension on main Najafgarh Road. The accused reached the spot in the black colour car and started indiscriminate firing on three men.

"Mathur, Pradeep and Rahul ran for cover but received multiple gunshots. The PCR van reached the spot immediately and injured were rushed to hospital in Mongol Puri where their condition is said to be serious, " police said.

Police claimed that the accused started private work of cable TV and fitment of CCTV cameras in the areas of Nihal Vihar and Nangloi. Soon, one Narender also joined him in partnership. Their business began to grow briskly which was taken note of by one Deepak Mathur, who is a bad character of Nihal Vihar police station. Often arguments and quarrels took place between the two groups. Assaults and counter-assaults also took place between the two groups in the past.

"A few months ago, Narender was fired upon by the members of Deepak Mathur group. Narender, despite being shot in the head, survived and he vowed to avenge the attack on his life," police said.
