Odd-Even: No surge pricing by cabs, says CM

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the notification on Odd-Even was issued on Friday and is expected to be implemented from Monday (November 4). He also said that 15 per cent pollution had reduced

during previous year's Odd-Even implementation according to a study by University of Chicago. An order on staggered office timings has also been passed along with directions to place placards about Odd-Even.

In an internal meeting with senior officials the Delhi Chief Minister directed the concerned departments that from a distance of 1 km from the Delhi border, placards need to be positioned informing people of Odd-Even scheme as they enter the country's capital.

Sources in the Delhi government said, "The CM directed the placards to be made in bold, so that it is visible from far, and placed along the outskirts of Delhi Highway. Volunteers will also be stationed at traffic signals in the city with placards as well."

At a press conference the Delhi CM said, "I took a review meeting on Odd-Even with all the agencies present in the meeting. The cab companies have been directed to not surge pricing during the drive. I also want to appeal to all the auto-rickshaw drivers to strictly run on a meter."

"The first day of Odd-Even the implementation may be soft and advisory in nature but from second day it will be stringent and strict action will be taken against those who do not follow the scheme," added the official.

The CM said, "Two timings on the opening of government offices have been fixed, 9:30 am and 10:30 am. This is for the government offices, nothing has been fixed on the private offices yet."
