Notice to brick kilns in and around Ggn over pollution

Gurugram: Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) has issued notice to the brick kilns in and around Gurugram asking them to adopt latest technology known as Zig Zag technology latest by June-end.

They have also warned the industrial units that failure to adopt the technology may draw stern action.

According to the officials, the Zig Zag technology will result in less smoke to be emitted from such units and therefore will play a significant role in improving the environment of Gurugram that is plagued by deadly air pollution levels.

The poor air quality levels prevailing in Gurugram had earlier prompted the officials HSPCB to issue notices to major industrial units in Gurugram directing them to take pollution controlling measures.

Over 800 such units have been issued notices. Moreover, based on the evaluation, the HSPCB has also categorised industries into various zones based on the pollution caused by these units.

Around 230 units in the city have been placed under the red category, the highest level for those causing maximum pollution.

Next in line are 360 units that have been placed under the orange category.

Less than 100 industries have been placed under green category which means that these industries are not contributing in polluting city's air.
