Noida girl ranks 4th in NIFT entrance test

New Delhi: An engineering student from Noida, Soumya Agarwal, emerged as the fourth ranker in the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) 2019 entrance. Soumya studied science from the Delhi Public School, RK Puram in 2018 and scored 94.6 percent and opted to purse engineering in computer science from Amity University, Noida.

"Later, she realised that it's not her field and started preparing for NIFT," her mother said. Her mother added that she wanted to do fashion communication from Delhi.

"Apart from NIFT, Soumya has scored 60th rank in National Institute of Design. She was always inclined towards fashion," her mother added.

"She was a good engineering student and studious from childhood and we encouraged her. But, during her B Tech, it became clear that she wants to pursue a different career. Our thoughts are structured and hers was not at all structured. We never forced our thoughts on her," she said.
