No signs of mechanised cleaning machines yet in Ggn

Gurugram: Pollution caused by dust is one of the major factors in deteriorating air of Gurugram. However, no concrete measure has been taken yet to solve this challenge. While there was an announcement that the roads will be swept through mechanised cleaning machine, most of the roads including the prominent ones like MG road, Golf Course road continue to be cleaned through brooms.

Large-scale construction activities, depleting green cover are some of the major reasons attributed to the rise in air pollution caused due to dust. The poor roads caused due to monsoon rains have further worsened the situation.

There were plans to have at least six mechanised trucks in the city. As per sources, however, there are presently three contracted trucks that are operating in the city.

At a time when the civic agencies are struggling to find an effective solution to deal with the pollution, the condition is worsening day by day. On Wednesday the particulate matters 2.5 microns was recorded at the level of 215- 220 micrograms per cubic metre that is way beyond the safe limit of 60.

According to experts, the climatic condition may have lessened the adverse impacts of pollution yet the condition can deteriorate with the change in wind speed.
