Two face the music after free rides

Two separate incidents of men being thrashed after they were offered a free ride have come to the fore. In the first incident, three men offered a free ride to a 22-year-old man on the pretext of dropping him to Ghaziabad.

However, when he took the ride, he was thrashed by the occupants of the car, and robbed him of his wallet and other belongings before throwing him in a secluded place in Shahdra.

The first incident was reported on Friday evening when the victim, Kapil Chowdhury, was waiting for a bus to go to Ghaziabad, at Kashmere Gate bus terminal.

He told the cops that while he was waiting, three men approached him and asked him the way towards Ghaziabad. When he told them that he too was heading that way, they offered him a free ride and he went along.

Chowdhury told the cops that he was thrashed by the men who asked him to hand over his belongings when he resisted. They thrashed him and took his wallet.

The victim had to borrow a phone from a passersby and made a PCR call, who registered a case and the three men were detained from their respective residences.

The second incident was reported in Badarpur area on Saturday evening when a cab driver was made captive in his own car and was robbed of his belongings, before he was thrashed and thrown out of the car at a secluded spot in Palwal.

Police said that the victim, identified as Satyendra Kumar, was stopped by three men who asked him to take them to Gurgaon.

He agreed, but a few minutes after the men boarded the cab, the man sitting behind Kumar pointed a pistol towards him and asked him to drive in the direction they are asking him to go to. The victim was taken to a secluded spot in Pul Prahladpur after which he managed to contact the police.
