NDMC to observe 'Hindi Month'

New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) on Thursday announced that it will observe a "Hindi Month" to mark the occasion of Hindi Diwas, which is celebrated on September 14.

NDMC Secretary, Rashmi Singh said that Hindi is a rich and beautiful language and several competitions in Hindi essay writing and poem writing will be organised over the course of this one month, where NDMC staff are to participate.

Singh added that over 1,000 of the Council's staff from various departments will participate in these events. She also stressed that being a grassroots-level organisation, employees of the NDMC should interact with the general public in Hindi.

The Secretary also said that in honour of Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, the NDMC will also host a two-day international seminar in collaboration with the Vishwa Hindi Parishad on September 13 and 14.

Representatives from more than six countries are expected to be present at the seminar.
