NDMC holds 'Plogging' drive in city

New Delhi: The New Delhi Municipal Council on Wednesday conducted a 'Plogging' drive in various places across New Delhi in a bid to promote the idea of a single-use-plastic-free Capital.

NDMC Secretary Rashmi Singh also launched a citizens participation movement from Wednesday to October 2 in keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call to

make India free of single-use plastic.

Singh urged for greater civic participation and sensitization of people from all walks of life, urging for personal commitments from various segments of society as a part of this movement so that it becomes their daily habit to be more environmentally conscious and active.

The NDMC said in a statement that it is the residents' responsibility to make the Capital city free from single-use plastic, which poses a grave threat to the ecological balance of nature. Shopkeepers/ MTA's at Mini Market, Laxmi Bai Nagar, Babu Market at Sarojini Nagar and Kali Bari Marg joined the movement. NDMC officials interacted with various stakeholders including rag pickers to make them a part of the movement.
