Moti Nagar gangrape: Victim's clue help cops to nab accused

New Delhi: The investigation in the gang-rape case of a 16 year-old-girl in West Delhi's Moti Nagar area revealed that clue given by victim help cops in nabbing two sexual predators.

According to police, on Tuesday two persons identified as Ravi and Ankit Choudhary were arrested from Basaidarapur area of West Delhi for raping a minor girl.

"During the investigation, the girl said that one of the accused while committing the crime, was taking the name of his associate. This clue help us during investigation ," an investigator said.

The police officer further said that they started rounding up a few anti-social elements who keep roaming around the area.

"More than a dozen such people were questioned. We asked them about the name which was taken by the girl. During further investigation, it came out that the one person with the same name lives in Basaidarapur area who later turn out to be one of the accused, " the officer said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Deepak Purohit said that both the accused were arrested.

The girl is a resident of West Bengal and had come to Delhi about three months back through a distant relative and was employed as domestic help.

She was asked to bring some household items at about 9 am on September 9 after which she decided to go to a nearby park in Moti Nagar where two persons, identified as Ravi and Ankit Chaudhary, developed ill motives against the girl and sexually exploited

her.

"When the accused first approached the girl she scolded them. Later, they once again go near the victim to say sorry and trapped her on the pretext," sources added.
