Mohalla clinics: CM inspects, approves 3 'non-feasible' sites

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday inspected three sites which had been earmarked for building mohalla clinics but deemed 'non-feasible' by officials, and approved them for setting up the clinics.

"There is so much space here, where is the constraint? It seems there is something wrong with the inspection done. I have seen three sites today, all of them have space and the report submitted says there is no space," the Chief Minister told officers.

Kejriwal, along with Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain, inspected sites for two upcoming Aam Aadmi Mohalla clinics in Paschim Vihar and one in Saraswati Vihar.

Earlier, in their report, officials had marked several sites as 'non-feasible' on account of 'space constraint'. However, Kejriwal was surprised during his visit to the these sites on Friday, when he found that they had more than enough vacant space required to the clinics.

The officials of the concerned departments were also confronted by the CM over the 'space constraint' report submitted by them.

Directing the Principal Secretary (Health), the CM said, "It looks to me that most of the sites marked non-feasible are having space for mohalla clinics. Get them re-inspected, revisited immediately and get them approved. If there are still any 'non-feasible' site reports.

"I will again go for the inspection of such sites. This report seems to be totally wrong after all three non-feasible visited today have so much of space," Kejriwal added.

Earlier this month, Kejriwal had held a review meeting of the progress of sites identified for new setting up new mohalla clinics in the Capital.

According to a statement issued by the Delhi government, the CM was reported of pendency in the joint inspection of several sites for the go-ahead for setting up of new clinics. The meeting was attended by Jain, officials of the Public Works Department, Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, Delhi Jal Board and other land owning departments.
