Masked robbers loot Gzb jewellery shop at gunpoint

Ghaziabad: Five masked and armed men robbed a jewellery shop on gunpoint in Sahibabad area of Ghaziabad in broad daylight on Wednesday afternoon.

Police said the robbers entered Prem Shri Jewellery shop, located in the main market in Sahibabad's Shyam Park Extension area, brandishing guns and threatened to shoot the employees if they refused to follow instructions.

The shop owner Suraj claimed that the culprits took away gold and diamond jewels, and cash worth Rs two crore.

Eyewitnesses said that five youth reached the showroom on two motorbikes with arms at around 1.10pm.

Inspector General of Meerut Range Rajkumar, Senior Superintendant of Police Vaibhav Krishna, Superintendant of Police (City) Shlok Kumar and other officials reached the spot and assured to nab the criminals at earliest.

"Shop owners told us that five men barged into the shop with arms in their hands. They further threatened to kill the staff and owners if they did not cooperate. They took away some jewellery in the store and some cash with them," Vaibha Krishna said.

"The whole incident has been captured by the CCTV cameras installed in the showroom. We are now examining those present in the shop at the time of the heist to establish the identity of the people who committed the crime. Further investigation into the case is underway," he added.
