Man who slashed girl in Timarpur arrested

A snatcher who attacked a college girl with a blade on Thursday has been arrested by Delhi Police. Police apprehended Sanjeet, alias Sannu, who has been previously involved in cases snatching and robbery.

On Thursday evening, while on her way home, the girl was attacked near Timarpur by Sanjeet with a sharp edged weapon.

Police said that he had injured the girl in an attempt to snatch her bag hanging from her shoulder. However, the girl managed to turn away at the last moment and Sanjeet's blade slashed her back.

While the girl began bleeding, Sanjeet managed to flee.

She quickly raised an alarm and was admitted to a hospital, where she underwent treatment. Police were informed and several teams were formed to identify and arrest the accused. Within 48 hours, he was nabbed.

Confirming the arrest, Jatin Narwal, DCP (North) said: "The accused is an addict and a habitual consumer of ganja and liquor. His parents have abandoned him and he has a history of criminal antecedents."
