Man tries to commit suicide in Lajpat Nagar police lock-up

New Delhi: A person tried to commit suicide inside the lock-up of the police station in Lajpat Nagar. The investigators claimed that the accused tried to strangulate himself with the help of shirt. According to police, Nitin alias Gochu was arrested in Arms Act in Lajpat Nagar and was lodged in the lock-up of the police station. He tried to commit suicide by strangulating himself by his shirt inside the blanket he was covering himself with. "He was noticed by the sentry on duty and was immediately rushed to AIIMS Trauma Centre in government gipsy. Immediate medical assistance was provided and he is stable now," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) Chinmoy Biswal. The DCP further stated that he is under the care and observation at AIIMS Trauma Center. Accused has a number of previous criminal involvement of theft and snatching. "Keeping in view the incident one another case under section 309 IPC has been registered at Lajpat Nagar police station against the accused Nitin," said DCP Biswal.
