Man suspects wife of illicit affair, shoots her dead

NEW DELHI: In a tragic incident, a man shot his wife dead with a country-made gun suspecting her having an illicit affair, in RK Puram in Delhi. "We received a call from the victim's daughter who informed us of the murder. Our teams soon reached the spot and all forensic evidence were collected," said a senior police officer.
At around 9:40 pm on Monday, the accused's daughter informed police about the murder of her mother by her father. When the police reached the spot, they found the 51-year-old Meena lying in a pool of blood. She was rushed to trauma center but she succumbed to her injuries. She was shot with a country-made pistol. The cops soon secured the spot and crime team collected all forensic evidence.
The inquiry revealed that the husband of the deceased Meena murdered her and fled the spot. "The husband Bala Ram works in CPWD as a pump operator and he ran away after the crime. We soon made teams to apprehend him and finally he was caught from Kotla Mubarakpur on a tip-off," said the officer.
On December 10, the victim's son and his wife visited Burari to attend a function leaving her mother and father at R K Puram. The victim's daughter told police that relation between her father and mother were not cordial and her father used to beat her mother as he had doubt on her mother's character.
On December 11, she called her mother thrice but her mobile was found switched off. She contacted her father and enquired about her mother who informed that her mother had gone out. Getting suspicion, she contacted her brother on phone who started crying. She with her husband immediately rushed at her parental house and found her mother lying on floor. Her father could not give any explanation about her mother. She found blood oozing from head and back of her mother. Blood stained clothes were also found at the spot and in washroom. Investigation led to the arrest of Bala Ram, who the police suspects of killing his wife.
