Man shot at by his cousin brother over property dispute

Greater Noida: A scrap dealer was allegedly shot at by his cousin brothers when he was sleeping at his shop near Kaushalya World School in Surajpur area of Greater Noida on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday. Police have arrested the accused and said that the incident was fallout of old rivalry over property dispute.

Cops said that the incident occurred around 1 am on Monday when the victim Arif Ali, native of Shikarpur area in Bulandshahr, was sleeping at his shop along with a helper named Zuber. "Three persons identified as Zafruddin, Babuddin, natives of Bulandshahr along with an unnamed barged into the shop and opened fire on him. A bullet hit Ali in his left shoulder and the criminals managed to flee on a motorcycle. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital where his condition is stable," said Jitendra Deekhit, Station House Officer at Surajpur.

The officer further said that the accused was arrested later on Monday morning who confessed to have attacked his cousin brother over alleged competition in business.

"Based on the complaint filed by victim's brother-in-law, an FIR was registered against three men under sections 452 (illegal trespass) and section 307 (Attempt to murder) of the Indian Penal Code. Police tracked down Victim's cousin brother Zafruddin from his house in Bulandshahr. The accused told police that he also runs a scrap dealing shop in Greater Noida and attacked his brother over competition in business. He also told that they were fighting to get a big contract of scrap which had triggered enmity among them," added Deekshit.

Meanwhile, police are yet to trace the other two accused involved in the incident. "We have formed teams to arrest the other two persons involved in the case as well. The accused was presented before the court and has been sent to jail," the officer said.
